Functions of the Cerebral Cortex in Behavior

This laboratory is particularly interested in the role of various brain structures in visual perception, visually guided behavior and visual learning. Much of this research involves monkeys. Recent experiments concern stimulus localization and movement discrimination in animals with striate lesions. Currently, investigations are being conducted on the neural mechanisms underlying blindsight by measuring the effects of striate lesions on the activity of extra-striate visual areas and frontal cortex with functional magnetic resonance imaging.
